Hotspot makes first move in fee wars

Launches Free Gold initiative

Recently acquired institutional foreign exchange platform Hotspot has launched its first promotion to attract trading flows, as owner Bats deploys in FX its long-standing policy of competing on cost and sparking price wars.

The promotion, dubbed Free Gold, will start on May 1 and run at least until the end of the year. The initiative, which will enable customers to trade gold and silver without having to pay a fee, marks the start of Hotspot's push into Europe as it gears up to take on incumbent
