Bouncing back from a flat June, currency funds were in the black in July, with returns of 0.49% month-on-month as investors sought safety in the US dollar.

With the Greek saga fading from the headlines, the respite was short-lived as demand for commodities fell, emerging market currencies waned and the Fed's seemingly optimistic view of the US economy sparked speculation of a rate hike sometime this year.
