Fed unlikely to hike more than once this year – CMC Markets

The broker believes the Federal Reserve cannot afford to raise rates under current US and world economic conditions

CMC Markets has topped this week's one-year currency forecast table on the view that the Federal Reserve would be cautious about raising rates in 2016.

While speculation was rife last year as to when the US central bank would make its first hike in nearly a decade and how many times it would follow suit, Michael Hewson, chief market analyst at CMC Markets, expected it to err on the side of caution and hold off until early 2016.
