Morgan Stanley: a Fed rate hike would be a policy mistake

The US central bank should hold off from raising interest rates for at least a year

A rate hike in the US will not happen until 2017, as a move in September or December would harm economic activity in the country and increase volatility in financial markets, according to Hans Redeker, global head of FX strategy at Morgan Stanley, which topped last week's three- and 12-month forecast tables.

"The Fed has undershot its inflation target for years now and inflation remains insufficient for a rate hike," says Redeker. "Yes, economic activity is on the up
