Review of the year

REVIEW/PREVIEW

January
The year started as it was to go on – with mergers and consequent job losses dominating the forex markets.

In round one, former JP Morgan forex staff re-interviewed for their jobs, following the completion of the JP Morgan and Chase Manhattan Bank merger on December 31, 2000. Predictions of an exodus of Morgan staff from the combined bank after annual bonuses were paid at the end of January were fulfilled, leaving few, if any, senior Morgan FX managers at the bank.
