Obie quizzed over SEC and retail FX

NEW YORK - Stephen Obie, acting director of the enforcement division at the US Commodity and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), conceded a single regulator for the futures and securities market would possibly be the best option if regulatory oversight were being defined today.

Speaking at the FX Week USA congress in New York last week (July 7), Obie said that, while the nature of financial markets has become increasingly cross-jurisdictional, "a merger for merger's sake is not an option".
