Euro threat remains, says UK's House of Lords

A report released last week (May 7) by the House of Lords' Economic and Financial Affairs Committee, marked the 10th anniversary of the creation of the European Central Bank and the setting of conversion rates between the currencies of the original eurozone countries.

Before the euro's launch, fears were expressed it would be the victim of speculation and collapse within months, and that rancour it could cause between EU members would lead to disintegration of the Union. Yet the Lords' report
