CLS set to add Russian ruble in November, source says

russian-dolls

The Russian ruble is set to join the universe of currencies settled through industry utility CLS in November, making it the first currency to be added to CLS since 2008, a person familiar with internal discussions told FX Week.

CLS has been pushing to bring the ruble into its settlement process along with a number of other currencies, including the units of Brazil, Chile, Thailand and China for the past few years. It has been in discussions with the Russian central bank since 2012.
