Credit Agricole has appointed Tony Botting as global head of linear FX trading in the first senior hire since the start of the global investigation into currency markets emptied the higher ranks of FX desks at banks.

Botting will report directly to Dmitri Shuster, global head of FX trading for the French bank, based in London.

The appointment will likely be seen as an encouraging sign for the industry, which has been hit hard by the global regulatory probe into currency markets, and as trading
