Silverman exits Hotspot in search of new venture

Trading platform's co-founder leaves

A man running for the exit

Howard Silverman has left Hotspot, the Miami-based trading platform he co-founded in 1999, which was recently taken over by exchange operator Bats.

"I've been doing Hotspot for 15 to 16 years and I'm very proud of everything we have achieved," says Silverman, who was also its managing director. "Look, I'm an entrepreneur, and I'm at an age where I thought it was time to do something new and look for another challenge."

He says he will make an announcement about his plans in the coming weeks.
