Atlantic council calls on IMF to include RMB in SDR

The US think tank says it should be in the basket

A report from the Atlantic Council calls on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to include the renminbi as a reference currency for the Special Drawing Rights (SDR) basket in November, even though it is still not free-floating.

The report was presented on June 29 at an event in London called Renminbi ascending: how China’s currency impacts global markets, foreign policy and transatlantic financial regulation.

The currencies making up the SDR, along with their relative weights, are reviewed
