Richard Metcalfe, director of regulatory affairs at the Investment Association (IA), has left after two years in the role, as the trade body unexpectedly disbands its regulatory unit, despite the raft of upcoming rules expected to hit asset managers in the coming years.

Metcalfe represented the IA on the Bank of England's Foreign Exchange Joint Standing Committee. The trade body declined to say who will take over the role from January.
