Cold storage: Esma says the DDTC's trade repository failed to directly and immediately share derivatives data

The European Securities and Markets Authority (Esma) has fined a trade repository for the first time, levying a €64,000 penalty against the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) for failing to provide the regulator with adequate access to derivatives data.

The fine hinged on how quickly Esma could gain access to data between March and December 2014, during which delays in making 2.6 billion reports available to the regulator increased from the required two days to 62.
