FX volumes inch higher in April

Over-the-counter volumes were up on the whole, but FX trading on-exchange was generally down

Thumbs-up: volumes traded on OTC FX platforms rose 2% to $492 billion

Volumes traded on over-the-counter foreign exchange platforms rose 2% to $492 billion, from $481 billion, on four of the main trading platforms, compared with March's figures. On a yearly basis, trading volumes were down 2% from the level seen in April 2015, which totalled $502 billion.

Thomson Reuters saw volumes across all FX trading platforms and instruments increase 3% month-on-month to a daily average of $373 billion, from $362 billion in March, and 1% up on April 2015 volumes.
