Trust is a precious commodity – hard to build, and easy to destroy. It has been one among many buzzwords used by regulators as they have sought to rebuild oversight systems for the financial markets. Trust in the value of co-operation to create a level playing field, and trust in the supervisory approach of fellow regulators.
