One of the most defining features of the post-scandal years has been the retrenchment of banks’ visibility in foreign exchange. Of course, all dealers continued to service their clients on the currencies front, but not a lot of institutions were keen to talk about FX at all.

Parallel to this process, another significant shift has happened in the role of non-bank market-makers: within a few short years a handful of the largest players have come to be part of the furniture in the FX liquidity
