New ECB number two unlikely to impact euro

FRANKFURT -- The nomination of Greek central bank governor Lucas Papademos as vice-president of the European Central Bank (ECB) last week, is unlikely to have a large impact on the euro or the bank’s credibility, analysts told FX Week.

If anything, it may prove a slight positive for the ECB because the current vice-president, Christian Noyer of the French central bank, is perceived so poorly in the market-place that any change is likely to be welcomed, analysts said.
