Euro rally against dollar set to be short-lived

Matthew Clements, economist at Prebon Yamane in London, says any gains the euro may have made from the anticipated introduction of euro notes and coins may be short-lived

Euro/dollar moved to a six-week high last week, breaking above $0.90 for the first time since early November and closing above its 200-day moving average for 12 consecutive trading days. The imminent introduction of euro notes and coins on January 1 is undoubtedly providing some impetus for the currency.
