Market eyes commodity currency recovery in 2002

LONDON -- Commodity currencies may be set for a resurgence following a slump in global commodity prices in 2001 amid fears of global recession.

The global commodity index (CRB) has risen by almost 10% this year, and the Australian dollar in particular looks set to benefit, analysts told FX Week.

The Australian dollar, or Aussie, has started its move up, finally breaking a long-term resistance barrier at $0.527 two weeks ago, traders said.
