Service outage hits Barclays Capital's first OTC clearing client

A day after announcing it had become the first bank to start full-scale clearing of a client's over-the-counter derivatives trades, Barclays Capital suffered a break in its service, holding up clearing for a day. Other market participants worry news of the outage - however minor - will reflect badly on the clearing system's still-immature infrastructure. Barclays Capital denies its own systems were to blame.
