CME Plans Mexican Peso Futures As Foray Into Emerging Markets

Despite the recent turmoil in the various emerging markets, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) plans to start listing emerging markets products, beginning with contracts based on the Mexican peso. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) officials say the Merc's proposal for a peso futures contract could be approved by the end of February, when the comment period ends.
