Greek deadlines loom for euro

ATHENS – A spokesperson for the EU's top economy official, Olli Rehn, confirmed the Greek government had by 4:00 pm Friday (February 19) failed to explain how it used currency swaps to mask debt.

A Greek finance ministry spokesperson said they were awaiting the Greek statistics agency to prepare the data, and growing labour protests were a factor in the delay.

European Union finance ministers meeting in Brussels last Tuesday also gave Greece a deadline of March 16 to prove it can implement
