Shock departure from Citi

citigroup

LONDON - Citi has lost its senior chief dealer for spot FX to BNP Paribas, in a shock move that surprised many at the US bank.

Bob de Groot, a well-liked and respected figure, was the bank's London-based head of spot trading for Europe. He reported to Jeff Feig, global head of G-10 FX in New York and had worked at Citi since 1994. De Groot had spent the last four years in London but had previously run the spot desks in New York and Asia. Prior to his Citi, he worked at Lehman Brothers.
