RBS focuses on risk factors from emerging markets

Robert Sinche, global head of foreign exchange strategy at RBS in London, said that in October 2009 his team was highly focused on the ‘risk-on' environment, which was conducive to further gains in non-G-5 currencies versus the US dollar. "The aggressive stance of monetary policy in the major economies was the primary force behind this development, with rates in the G-5 countries at or near zero," he said.

As such, the bank predicted emerging market currencies would lead performance. Meanwhile
