"We have developed models that are helpful for short-term currency forecasts. We have one for each G-10 currency, looking at rate spreads and other characteristics such as terms of trade and equity market performance," said Carl Hammer, chief foreign exchange strategist at SEB in Stockholm.

SEB correctly anticipated EUR/USD would test the mid-thirties range, predicting on December 17, 2010 that it would rise from 1.33 to 1.37 in a month's time, close to the spot rate of 1.36 on January 24.
