James Pearson, head of trading for currencies, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea) at RBS, is to take a sabbatical for personal reasons and will resume his role in September this year, a spokesperson for RBS confirmed in an emailed statement.

According to the email, Pearson's decision to take time out from the industry is in no way connected to the global probe into foreign exchange markets.
