Treasury announces digital currencies consultation

The UK Treasury has launched a call for information to examine the potential benefits and risks of digital currencies, and whether there is a need to regulate these units, as part of the Treasury's ambition to embrace new technology.

The consultation is open to all and the deadline for response submissions is 10:30pm on December 3. The Treasury has 13 questions on which it is seeking feedback, including the risk posed by digital currencies on the stability of the financial system.
