The foreign exchange market has changed almost beyond recognition since FXCM, originally known as Forex Capital Markets, was founded in 1999. The biggest change has been the growth of electronic trading, with technology becoming faster and more accessible to new participants – a trend the firm has sought to embrace at every turn as it has expanded globally over the past decade, becoming publicly listed in 2010.

But it hasn't all been plain sailing for FXCM, particularly recently. In October 2011
