Hong Kong Futures Exchange Hopes "Mini Globex" Can Leverage Local Motion In Currency Trading


It's still on the drawing board, but if all the pieces fall into place, the Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE) will launch a series of currency contracts, including yen, sterling and Deutsche marks futures, via a local automated dealing system, says HKFE chief executive Gary Knight. The exchange is betting that the currency futures and a deferred-delivery "spot" currency will help revive the HKFE's sagging fortunes.
