Debate On Euro/Sterling Quoting Reaches Climax

LONDON--The debate on euro quoting conventions reached a climax last week as the major FX trading banks met in London on Tuesday, November 3, with the Bank of England (BoE) and the British Bankers' Association (BBA).

About 40 representatives from trading banks, representing 80 per cent of market volume in London, agreed to quote euro against sterling on January 4, 1999. The meeting was organized by Chase Manattan Bank.
