Reuters Finally Goes Live With Dealing 2000-2 Traders Greet System Warmly, But Volume Thin

Many moons and many millions of dollars later, Reuters Holdings PLC's Dealing 2000-2 electronic order-matching system for foreign exchange finally went live last week. With some 70 trades executed the first day, traders were generally enthusiastic about the system, although initial volume was thin.

At launch, a total of 20 banks were participating at 23 sites in London and New York. But of the 23 sites, 18 were in London and only five were in New York. Interestingly, four of the banks are
