UBS Staffing Up In New York; Spot, Options Get Face-Lift

In just five months, Union Bank of Switzerland's foreign exchange trading desk in New York has increased by nearly a third. The new traders, recruited largely from Chemical Bank and Bankers Trust, have been brought aboard to boost the bank's profile in the interbank market, sources say.
"This is really a complete face-lift," says UBS' global options head Richard Silver. "There is a commitment from the most senior management both in New York and in Zurich."
