Tokyo Foreign Exchange Earnings Slip For Some Overseas Bank Branches In 1992

Sluggish currency trading depressed profits in the 1992 financial year for some branches of leading foreign banks in Tokyo, including at least two in the top 25 ranked by FX Week (FX Week, April 12).

First National Bank of Chicago and Chase Manhattan were just two of the leading banks reporting net losses for the year ended March 31 in financial statements recently released in Tokyo. Both attributed their disappointing performances partly to smaller gains in foreign exchange trading in 1992
