Association Of Corporate Treasurers Attacks EC Draft Legislation Early

The U.K.-based Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) has asked British members of the European Community parliament to oppose provisions of two EC draft directives that would considerably hamper foreign exchange trading for some companies and investment banks.

Although neither directive is near enactment, says ACT council chairman John Grout, treasury director at Cadbury Schweppes, "We have to take a stand at an early stage" to try and have the offending clauses eliminated. Otherwise, says
