Bank of New York Mellon has been quietly strengthening its foreign exchange markets team over the last year, making several key hires from some of the top banks in the currency space. The recruitment spree covered a broad range of business lines, including prime brokerage and electronic FX sales, with several big names joining.

In e-FX sales, a key hire has been James Taylor, who joined the bank in September 2017 as head of FX electronic market sales. Previously, he spent eight years at JP
