Currency focus: Danish krone

The Danish krone has a 30-year association with a fixed currency, having been pegged to the Deutsche mark since 1982 and later to the euro, but while the association has put Denmark's economy on a sound footing, few periods in its history have posed greater challenges for the country's central bank, the Danmarks Nationalbank, than the financial crisis.

The peg was originally implemented to track the German Deutsche mark and subsequently forced successive governments to pursue a stability
