The semi-annual foreign exchange turnover surveys conducted by the central-bank-sponsored FX committees provide one of the most reliable barometers of activity in the global FX market, and which products and regions are most popular. With the latest set of data – analysing turnover in October 2012 – due to be published today, traders widely expect volumes will have remained depressed, but some are now confident 2013 might see a recovery.
