July - Top banks reap FX rewards

The biggest banks in FX are making more money than ever before, according to FX Week’s exclusive ranking of banks’ forex revenues, published in July.

With just 36 banks reporting figures for fiscal 2001, the list was much reduced from mid-1990s highs, when more than 50 banks were in the picture. But those remaining command ever-stronger businesses as a result of that consolidation, and most boast bigger profits even than in the pre-euro golden era of FX.

The top-30 for fiscal 2001 totalled
