US pressure to bring ‘freer markets’

Dialogue between nations is driving emerging market countries to adopt more flexible exchange rates, Taylor said, in a testimony to a financial services House subcommittee on October 1.

The choice of exchange rate regime is particular to each country, but the US wants to encourage pro-growth policies and stability worldwide, in line with the President’s growth package, he said.
