IG takeover sparks FX job worries

City Index, a private investment company part-owned by Icap chief executive Michael Spencer, is investigating the viability of buying 24% of IG, which was put up for sale by IG chairman and founder Stuart Wheeler earlier this month. On announcing his decision to sell the stake, Wheeler added that other long-standing investors in the firm are also looking to relinquish their shares. This brings the total to ‘substantially in excess of 30% of the company’s issued share capital’, said the statement
