Merrill’s Italian sales gap unfilled

The bank hired three dealers to expand that group in March, but all three returned to former employer Goldman Sachs before their planned start date at Merrill (FX Week, March 24).

Andrea Anselmetti, Luca Pietrangeli and Ernesto Mercadente changed their minds, said a Goldman spokesperson at the time.

However, a fourth dealer -- also from Goldman -- joined Merrill Lynch in corporate risk management and FX in April, said a Merrill spokesperson. Roberto Centeno focuses on the Iberian market.
