BoE's Smeeton Reflects On 37-Year Career, As Smout Prepares To Take Up FX Duties

LONDON--This week marks the end of an era at the Bank of England, as Terry Smeeton retires from his position as head of the foreign exchange division. As for his successor, colleague Clifford Smout will take up Smeeton's responsibilities when he retires on Friday, March 20th.

Smeeton, 55, began working at the bank at the age of 18, but is trading in his life among the bustling corridors of Threadneedle Street for the more tranquil charms of his Kent home, bird watching and playing cricket.
