Asian Currency Turmoil To Continue In 1998, Predict Market Participants

The financial crisis plaguing Asia will continue causing volatility in the currency markets through the better part of 1998, say market participants. But most dealers surveyed are generally optimistic that the crisis will pass and that some form of normalcy will return--but when and how this will occur are debatable issues.

One chief dealer in Korea argues that the Korean won, one of the last of the currencies to enter the fray, will stabilize and eventually regain lost ground. "I expect the
