Reporting banks decline, but industry is more profitable than ever

LONDON -- The industry may be shrinking, but the biggest banks in FX are making more money than ever, according to FX Week’s exclusive annual ranking of global banks’ forex trading revenues.

With just 36 banks reporting figures for fiscal 2001, the list is much reduced from the highs of the mid-1990s, when 50-plus banks were in the picture. But those that remain are commanding ever-stronger businesses as a result of that
