Argentina Euro Peg Plan On Hold

BUENOS AIRES -- A government-sponsored bill to include the euro in Argentina's US dollar currency peg has hit trouble after the Senate postponed debating it for the second time last week.

The plan, which was proposed by the architect of Argentina's one-to-one peg with the greenback 10 years ago, economy minister Domingo Cavallo, would see the Argentine peso's value determined by an average of the euro and US dollar rates -- but only after the euro reaches parity with the US unit.
