It's been a little more than a year since Chris Deuters left what is arguably the most powerful position in the foreign exchange markets--European treasury director of Citibank--to join Lehman Brothers as global head of foreign exchange.

In that year, Deuters has aimed toward his goal of putting Lehman into the industry's big leagues, despite the fact that his is an investment bank with a far smaller balance sheet than most major commercial banks.
