Central Bankers Anticipate Bumpy Start For Euro, But Future Looks Stable

GENEVA--The euro will face short-term volatility, say central bankers representing Germany, France, the US, UK and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), speaking at Forex '98 in Geneva on June 6. However, in the longer term, they anticipate demand for the euro will strengthen and stabilize the new unit.
