The CME reports total currency futures volume for January was 2,008,751 contracts, up 11 per cent from the 1,806,038 contracts reported for January 1996. Average daily volume for currency futures for the month was 91,307 contracts, up from the 82,093 reported for January 1996. Month-end open interest for currency futures stood at 374,513 positions outstanding, up 6.3 per cent from the 352,302 positions in January 1996. For currency options, total volume reported for January was 646,773
