No change in UK rates expected

LONDON -- The Bank of England is unlikely to shift UK interest rates this week, analysts told FX Week -- in spite of growing international economic problems and a rise in inflation in the UK.

"I don't see any moves this week," Ian Gunner, currency strategist at ABN Amro in London, told FX Week. "There are plenty of reasons to be concerned about slowdown globally, but at home things look strong."

The consumer sector remains robust in the UK, with factors such as mortgage lending on the rise.
