A review of FX Week’s rankings of global forex players in 2001

Citigroup proved its might in the global forex industry in 2001, topping both FX Week’s annual rankings – the rundown of banks listed by forex profits, published in July, and the Best Banks in FX Awards, based on a survey conducted in November.

But while HSBC was the second-highest FX-earning bank in the profits ranking, it was UBS that challenged Citi in the dealer survey – which this year had 906 respondents, 32% of whom
